As a general contractor and custom carpenter, I’ve traveled a circuitous route to starting Praxis Builds. As a sociologist of science studying lithium production in Bolivia, I chose to end my academic career in Portland at Lewis and Clark College.
From there I dove into the world of small farms and organic vegetable farming, and started my own farm and Community Supported Agriculture business called Praxis Farm. https://www.instagram.com/praxisfarmpdx/
I then jumped into the trades as a carpenter for a bit more flexibility while I had a toddler at home adjusting to the world after the pandemic closures.
And, there is a through line in all of the work I’ve done and the values I bring to that work: a valuing of curiosity and a continual process of learning; caring for and providing for my community with healthy food and safe, high quality housing; and I value clear and direct communication to help people develop a vision and goals for their project and a path and a plan to make it happen.
